Nano Speedy

Speedy 20
Dimensions: about 20.5 x 13.5 x 12 cm (8.1 x 5.3 x 4.7 in). The smallest Speedy that works as a daily bag for a light packer. It is proportionally taller and deeper than you might expect, which helps with capacity, and it is designed around its strap, so it is a natural crossbody bag.
Speedy 25
Speedy 25 dimensions: about 25 x 19 x 15 cm (9.8 x 7.5 x 5.9 in). This is the size most buyers settle on today. It holds a proper day's essentials without looking like luggage, and it suits petite and average frames particularly well. The handles sit comfortably in the hand or the crook of the arm, but the classic handle-only version will not really go onto the shoulder, which is why so many people choose the Bandoulière in this size.
Speedy 30
Speedy 30 size: about 30 x 21 x 17 cm (11.8 x 8.3 x 6.7 in). The original everyday proportion, and many long-time collectors still think it is the best balance. The extra five centimetres of width matter more than they sound: a long wallet, a notebook and a small umbrella go in without straining the zip. Speedy 40

The Speedy Bandoulière

Canvas and leather options, and how they age
Monogram canvas with natural vachetta trim is the original, and its handles and tabs develop a honey patina over time. Damier Ebène uses dark brown coated trims instead of vachetta, so it does not patina and hides marks well: the most practical choice for rain and daily use. Damier Azur is the summer option, with pale canvas and vachetta that will show both patina and colour transfer from dark denim. The Bandoulière has also been made in embossed Monogram Empreinte leather, which is softer and heavier than canvas.
Choosing between LV Speedy sizes
A practical test: lay out what you carried today, measure its footprint, then compare it with the base measurements above, allowing for the curved sides, which take up space at the top. Then use these rules of thumb across the LV Speedy sizes:
- If your daily kit already fits a small crossbody: Speedy 20 or Speedy Bandoulière 25.
- If you carry a long wallet and a notebook: Speedy 30.
- If you want one everyday bag on a petite frame: the 25 usually looks most balanced.

Buying a pre-owned Speedy: size by size checks
The Speedy's weak points are the same in every size, but they show differently.
- Handle tabs. The canvas where the handles attach can crack, more often on the 35 and 40, which tend to be carried heavily loaded.
- Base corners and piping. The 25 and 30 spend most time set down on tables; check the piping for fraying.
- Vachetta. Compare the colour of the handles with the tabs. A clear mismatch can mean replaced handles, which is fine if disclosed.
- Zip and strap. Run the zip end to end. On a Bandoulière, check the strap holes and edges, and that the strap suits the bag, since straps are sometimes swapped.
